Harold F. McGuire, Jr., Esq.  (Member)

Harold F. (“Skip”) McGuire, Jr. is proud to have been recognized by Super Lawyers for General Litigation, White-collar Crime, and Securities Litigation in New York from 2012 through the present day.

Skip, who is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School, has been told he has an incisive mind, empathy for his clients’ problems, a distinctive and effective writing style, and a keen sense of humor.  He has vast experience in a number of fields as a trial lawyer, appeals practitioner and litigation counselor, representing plaintiffs and defendants in courts and in arbitration.  He is now a member of a small litigation boutique with offices in White Plains, New York and Stamford, Connecticut.  His cases are varied and usually complex.

Skip began his career at a large Manhattan firm and then served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York for more than four years, prosecuting numerous high-profile securities frauds and other white-collar crimes.

For 27 years (1978-2003), Skip was the senior partner of a New York City litigation boutique.  In 2004-2009, with another firm, he led the team that successfully prosecuted multi-billion dollar claims arising out of the bankruptcy of Global Crossing, Ltd.  Skip personally took more than 30 depositions and was the lead author of numerous briefs in that case.  All the defendants eventually settled.

Skip’s other significant cases include the successful representation of the Major League Baseball Players Association in a series of collusion grievances against all the Major League baseball clubs, which resulted in a $280 million settlement in the early 1990s after 5 years of arbitration and more than 50 days of expert testimony from economists.

He served as a court-appointed Special Agent to investigate and report on alleged securities and accounting frauds of International Systems and Controls Corp.  He lives in Connecticut with Iris, his wife of 42 years, and two dogs.
